About
Paul Edward: Writer and Chef.
Writing and Cooking keep me close to God. I am not a member of any organized religion; my God is all around me.
“We see the world piece by piece, as the sun, the moon, the animal, the tree; but the whole, of which these are the shining parts, is the soul.” (Emerson, The Over-Soul)
Man’s instinct is to search for meaning, like a bird’s instinct is to migrate south. These fragments are reflections on the pursuit that unites us all, man and nature alike. They are sketches. It is nice to allow the mind to wander. And wonder.
It is easy to take my writing for autobiography. What isn’t? Though I do not write facts. I write what I see. What is a Van Gogh sky? What is a Basquiat face? An artist must indulge both lightness and darkness. Day and night. Chaos and order. Good and Evil.

Frost Asters
I will keep my meadow of frost asters
and wish that you too could walk through it
whenever bad news from distant lands reaches me…
But I’m saying goodbye to the sadness
of the world
I’m saying goodbye to global rage
I’m saying goodbye to globalized thoughts.
Wouldn’t you if you has a meadow in bloom?
Wouldn’t you if your mornings were perfumed
with the smoke of oak
instead of bombs?
I have my guilt and my purring tabby cat
on my lap
